The Russian independent historical and human rights journal “KARTA” was published by the Ryazan “Memorial” Society from 1992 to 2007. On the pages of the electronic archive of “KARTA,” you can download any issue of the journal in PDF format for free. You can also explore its historical and human rights publications by viewing the pages in JPG format.
All forty-six issues of KARTA are available for free access in the electronic archive. In the foreseeable future, we also intend to post a number of interesting materials and photographs online that were not included in the periodical issues.
Republication and other use of “KARTA” materials is welcome, provided the publication is credited and a link to http://www.karta.org is included.
The main themes of “KARTA”:
– preservation of historical memory;
– the Gulag;
– the fates of people in the age of state terror;
– the history of the struggle for human rights and freedoms;
– the technologies and practices of non-governmental organizations in defending human rights and freedoms;
