UKRAINIAN COMMITTEE “HELSINKI-90” is a human rights organization created on the initiative of Oksana MESHKO on June 16, 1990. It was established to continue the traditions of the Helsinki Movement in Ukraine after the Ukrainian Helsinki Union was transformed into a political party—the URP (Ukrainian Republican Party)—on April 29, 1990. Its first chairman was Vasyl LISOVY. From 1991, its co-chairs were V. LISOVY, V. OVSIYENKO, and Ihor Murashov, who effectively led the UKH-90 (he died on September 1, 2005). On April 1, 2004, it joined the Ukrainian Helsinki Human Rights Union (UHHU) on a federal basis, along with 14 other human rights organizations.
